Welcome to Belper

Twice Great British High Street Award winner, Belper is a town with a rich heritage, and a key part of the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage site.

We're a vibrant shopping destination, with a great choice of unique independent retailers sitting alongside more familiar names, which is why we receive so many regular visitors from all over the county and beyond.

We're popular with day trippers too, who come here to soak up the rich heritage of this picturesque mill town, and to enjoy its parks, gardens and nature reserves.

So why not visit Belper. We think it's a wonderful place to live and work, and we know that you'll enjoy spending time here.

Belper 250

This year marks the 250th anniversary of Jedediah Strutt's first water-powered cotton mill, and Belper celebrates with a programme over 100 events throughout the year.
